Job Summary
The role is to support the Practice based Clinical Pharmacists to ensure the delivery of
safe, effective and efficient systems for repeat prescribing, medicines optimisation,
reducing medicines waste and maximising patient outcomes.
The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and support all Practice staff
to develop and improve processes. Innovative ideas are welcomed, and excellent
communication skills, enthusiasm and motivation are essential skills for a successful
candidate. A key part of the role will be dealing with daily medication requests and queries
and communicating with patients and Community Pharmacies.
In addition, the post holder will be responsible for encouraging the development of better
understanding of the principles of medicines optimisation throughout the practice teams and
promoting good practice in line with therapeutic developments. This will involve assisting the
Practices in achieving national requirements, NICE implementation and utilisation of
medicines optimisation initiatives.
Access to all Practice clinical computer systems is available from each Practice site. Please
note that there is no free parking at the Great Pulteney Street site. This is an on-site post,
although some remote working may be possible with prior agreement. The Bathampton site
has on street parking and Disabled facilities.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day pharmacy operations in general practice. You’ll also provide clinical support and advice to patients, helping to deliver safe, effective, and patient-centred care.
What You’ll Do
As a Primary Care Pharmacy Technician, you’ll:
Act confidently within your professional boundaries and standards.
Work closely with GPs, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
Manage and resolve medication-related queries.
Support medicine management and reconciliation processes.

What We’re Looking For
Essential Requirements:
Registered Pharmacy Technician with a relevant qualification
Completion of the CPPE Primary Care Pathway
6–12+ months’ experience working in a GP practice or primary care setting
Experience using EMIS, SystmOne, or both
Able to commute to the Oxford practice location
Desirable:
Prior experience working within a PCN
Additional training or qualifications in medicines optimisation or prescribing support
